How to Make a Business Account on Youtube

Get ready for lights, camera, action with our guide to creating a YouTube channel for your brand

Over a billion hours of video are watched daily by YouTube's 2 billion worldwide users and unlike some other platforms, has a fairly even split by both age and gender. With just a smartphone, it's easy to share educational content such as how-to videos, as well as product demonstrations.

Our simple guide will help you set up a YouTube channel for your brand. We've included plenty of visual aids and links to direct you to the appropriate pages, to make the whole setting up process that little bit easier.

Step 1: Create a Google account

You already have a Google account if you have ever signed into Gmail, Google Maps, Google Play, or any other Google services. If this is the case, then you can skip this step!

Your existing Google account details won't be publicly linked to your YouTube account, so don't worry if your name and email address don't coincide with your brand. The Google account is just the step needed to take you into your YouTube account.

If you don't have a Google account, go onto the Google account creation page and make a new Gmail address or choose an existing email address then enter your details then click next.

Step 2: Create a YouTube brand account

Your Google account automatically gives YouTube your personal details. So, you will want to create a new brand for your YouTube Business account. Creating a YouTube brand means you can customise your channel for your brand and give access to other team members.

You can do this by going to your YouTube channels page. You should only see your personal account here if you don't have any existing brand channels. To create a new brand channel, click "Create a new channel".

Enter your brand name and click Create.

Step 3: Enter your brand identity

It is important to present a strong brand image and identity, as it is with any other social media channel!

Firstly, login into YouTube on your desktop. Click the profile icon on the top right corner of your screen and select "Your channel". Upload profile and banner images by hovering over their areas until you see the "Edit channel icon" and the "Edit channel art"functions appear. Crop and adjust accordingly to fit the area and dimensions given.

You can also add links to YouTube channel banner, such as your company's website URL. You can do this by clicking on "Customise channel" and then clicking onto the "About" tab, and scrolling down to "Links". Click on the pencil icon and add the relevant links. If you choose to add links to social channels, they will be indicated by social media icons.

Congratulations! You have just created your brand YouTube channel! Now it's time to start uploading some top-quality content onto there.

Sign into your account and click on "Create a Video or Post" button at the top of your screen (the video camera). Click "Upload video" and select the video you would like to upload.

Add a title of up to 100 characters and a description of up to 5,000 characters. Then click publish.

And there you have it, your first uploaded video on your new company YouTube page! Now you can start creating video content to upload to your channel.
